NEW BEDFORD;  Maria J. (de Araujo) Oliveira, 98, of New Bedford, passed away Thursday March 22, 2018, after a period of declining health. She was the loving wife of the late Antonio da Silva Oliveira.

She was born in Vila de Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores . She was the daughter of the late Pedro and Maria do Carmo (Carreiro) de Araujo. A communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church and member of the Sister’s of the Rosery. She was formerly employed as a stitcher in the Textile Industry.

Survivors include; four sons, Antonio P. Oliveira and his wife Maria Jose, Mario Oliveira, Eduardo M. Oliveira and his wife Arlette, and Louis C. Oliveira all of New Bedford. Also survived by eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers; Jose de Araujo, Manuel de Araujo, and one sister; Maria do Rosario Raposo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral at 9:30 AM on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front St, New Bedford. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Interment at St John’s Cemetery.
