Baylies Square Funeral Home was founded by Hector Silva in 1950, and is currently operated by his Godson, Oliver M. Cabral. The business was purchased by the present owner in 1983, who added 'Cabral' to the Baylies Square Funeral Home name. In 2008, the Cabral-Lamoureux Funeral Home at 177 Cove Street in the South End of New Bedford merged with Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Oliver M. Cabral is a 1966 graduate of the New England Institute of Anatomy, Sanitary Science, Embalming and Funeral Directing. Oliver is assisted by his wife, Olga M. Cabral, a licensed apprentice.
The Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home is family owned and operated with a reputation for providing professional and personal service with compassion and dignity to all. The newly renovated and expanded facility at 512 North Front Street, New Bedford offers full handicap accessibility with an elevator at the parking lot entrance in the rear of the funeral home.
