NEW BEDFORD: Joaquim Da Silva Alexandre, 70, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the husband of 48 years to Aida De Arede Alexandre.
He was born in Lamares, Vila Real, Portugal to the late Alvaido Alexandre and Ilda (Da Silva) Alexandre. A communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Holy Name Society, Portuguese Prayer Group of his Parish. Jack was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He became a mechanic in the Portuguese Army in Angola where he also served and continued his professional career, eventually opening up his own business for the last 16 years. He loved visiting his home country whenever he could, but also enjoyed exploring the United States.
He is survived by his wife of New Bedford; two sons Alvaido A. Alexandre of New Bedford, and Carlos A. Alexandre and his wife Sally of Freetown; a brother Celestino Alexandre of Vila Real, Portugal. Also survived by two grandsons Jacob and Jonathan Alexandre, several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, December 04, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Thursday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
