NEW BEDFORD: On Friday, November 15, 2019, Teresinha Cardoso went to be with the Lord at the age of 88 surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.
Teresinha was born on February 28, 1931 in Lomba do Pomar, Povoação, São Miguel, to the late Joao Antonio Cardoso and Ana Luis (de Oliveira) Cardoso. She immigrated into the United States in 1960, and lived in New Bedford until her passing.
Teresinha was a deeply religious woman who was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She always enjoyed being in the company of her family who loved her greatly. She was known for her kind demeanor, selflessness, work ethic, unique and hearty laugh, and generosity. She enjoyed gardening and maintaining her home.
She is survived by her younger sister Evelinha Cardoso; three nieces Clotilde Borba and her husband Paul Borba, Irene Amaral, Anna Grey and her husband Steven; a nephew Adelino Borges and partner Filomena Carvalho; a late nephew João Manuel Amaral and his wife Christine Amaral; a great nephew Adam Borba and his wife Jenna Borba; three great-nieces Rachel Borba, Sylvia Alves, Sophia Amaral; a great-great-nephew Liam Borba.
She was the sister of the late Maria Lurdes Borges, Clotilde Amaral and Joao Luis Cardoso.
Visiting hours will be Monday, November 18, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Tuesday at 8 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Interment at St. John Cemetery.
