NEW BEDFORD: Evangelina (Barbosa) Teixeira, passed away on Friday, February 01, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family, after a long period of declining health. She was the wife of 61 years to Jeremias Teixeira.

She was one of 11 children born to the late Manuel and Maria (Barbosa) Lazaro, in the small village of Feteira Pequena, St. Miguel, Azores.

She was a devoted catholic and communicate of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was employed as a stitcher for many different textiles companies from the time she immigrated here until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking, but her true enjoyment was spending time surrounded by family and friends. She was loved by many and will be truly missed by everyone who knew her.

Survivors include her husband of New Bedford, a son Daniel Teixeira of New Bedford; her brothers Jose Barbosa, Diogenes Lazaro, Augusto "Gus" Lazaro all of New Bedford, and Ildeberto "Gilly"  Lazaro of Acushnet; her sisters Rosa Brandao and Evelina Brandao both of New Bedford. Her grandchildren Kevin Fagundo and Jeanette Fagundo Taber; her great-grandchildren Preston Duarte and Aubree Fagundo, her son-in-law Mario Fagundo. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.
She was the mother to the late Gildberta Teixeira Fagundo and sister to the late Domiciano Carreiro, Marcelino Barbosa, Aldina Duarte, and Evelina Barbosa.

The family would like to thank the wonderful Community Nurse Staff and Home Care  for their compassion and caring support during their difficult time.

Visiting hours will be Monday, February 04, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
