NEW BEDFORD: Charles R. Jodoin, husband of the late Joyce A. Strong of New Bedford, died on May 17, 2018 after a brief illness.

Charlie, as he was known, was born on December 22, 1937, to Joseph Gerard and Cecile Thomasset Jodoin, and was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. After serving in the United States Navy. he worked many years as a member of the Bricklayers Union and then for the City of New Bedford's facilities management department.

A devoted and caring husband, father and grandfather, he also was an Honorary Life Member Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was one of the original founders of the North End Youth Fellowship that served the spiritual and social needs of teens, and  donated hours of service at the former St. Theresa's Church.

In his retirement he enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling with his family and his newfound  hobby of cooking. Charlie would graciously  host dinner parties to share good food, friendship and wine.

Charlie leaves his son and daughter-in-law Charles A. and Lori Jodoin of Rochester, MA and their children, Katherine and Nicholas. He is also survived by his loving sister, Louise Squatrito and her husband Ronald of Reno, NV, a loving sister-in-law, Betty Jean Kregas and her husband James of Coconut Creek, FL, a brother-in-law, Wilfred Strong and his wife Barbara of Coconut Creek, FL, and many beloved nieces and nephews, and dear friends, including Brenda Solomon and Bridget Rasmussen, who provided loving friendship and care to him. He was also the brother of the late Lucille Konar of Hoffman Estates, IL.

At his request there will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. A celebratory  gathering of remembrance, in accordance with his wishes, will be held on Tuesday, June 5th at 5:30 PM at the Valley View Condominium function room. All are invited to celebrate and remember this loving man.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Jodoin family, and his neighbors at The Valley View.
Charlie & Joyce were one of the original condominium owners, in Dec. 2005. I will always remember him kindly. RIP, Charlie.
