NEW BEDFORD: Maria S. (Macedo) Aguiar, 98, of New Bedford, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at St. Luke’s in New Bedford after a period of declining health.  She was the widow of Manuel Aguiar. She was the daughter of the late Manuel S. and Rosa (de Sousa) Macedo.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Bedford.

She was born in New Bedford where she lived all of her life. She was formerly employed at Acushnet Process as a Packer Inspector.
Survivors include; Sons Manuel Aguiar and his wife Cynthia of Rochester and James Aguiar and his wife Sheryl of Fairhaven, and a sister Hilda Benfeito of New Bedford. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Manuel and Joseph Macedo, and the mother-in-law of the late Victoria “Vicki” Aguiar.

Visiting hours will be Friday, June 14, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday at 8:00  AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church.  Interment:  St John Cemetery.
