MASHPEE; Joseph M. Mello, 76, passed away on September 22, 2019 at Cape Cod Hospital, after a period of declining health. He was the son of the late Jose de Mello and Maria P. (de Medeiros) Mello.

He was born in Ponta Garca, St. Miguel, Azores, he worked as a Presser at Golf Ball Industry until his retirement.

He is survived by two sons, James Mello of Fairhaven, Jeffrey Mello of New Bedford; a daughter Cynthia Vieira of Dartmouth; two brothers John Mello of Acushnet, Adelino "Dino" Mello of New Bedford; two sisters Maria A. Amaral of Osterville, Angelina Linhares of Mashpee. He also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 4 to 8 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Thursday at 10:30 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM  in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contribution be made to: Cape Cod Cares for the Troops, P.O. Box 1444, Harwich, MA 02645.

To my Mello Cousins my condolences on the passing of your dear brother Joe. Iā€™m grateful to God that I was able to see him while visiting the Cape this past summer Thanks Angie for taking me to see him and hug Joe one more time.

My sincerest condolences to the family, TiTi Joe will be terribly missed but we can have some peace knowing that TiTi is resting peacefully, no longer struggling to breath. Much love and sympathy to all of the family.
