FAIRHAVEN; Born in Feteira Grande, Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Acores, daughter of the late Manuel Rocha and Olivia (Resendes) Cabral. Dot immigrated to New Bedford in 1954 with her father and 5 siblings to join their mother. She was a 1966 graduate of New Bedford High School and attended Weaver Airline School, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was employed by Frem’s Jewelry and Jacques Insurance Agency before working for TAP the Airline of Portugal in Boston for 12 years, where she resided before settling back in New Bedford to raise her family. She worked part time at Harry the Hatter, Cabral-Baylies Square, and Cabral-Lamoureux Funeral Homes.
Dot enjoyed watching her athletic daughters play basketball, volleyball, and was a true “Softball Mom” for many years. She cherished the time with her girls growing up and was a devoted Vavo’ to her four adored grandchildren who always looked forward to her kale soup and rice pudding. Her friendly, humbling and caring ways will be deeply missed by all of us, especially her rice pudding!!!
