NEW BEDFORD: Dwayne A. Barbosa, 38, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday. June 22, 2021.
He was the son of Albert Barbosa and Pamela J. (Galary) Barbosa, grandson of the late Edward and Emily Galary and Naomi and Marcelino Barbosa, great-grandson of Silvina and Antonio Barboza and Manuel and Maria Lazaro.
He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Dwayne graduated from New Bedford Vocational Technical High School from Machine Shop and was a CNC Machinist by trade for many years. Dwayne was involved in Boy Scouts from age 5 up until age 18. He received the highest honor as Eagle Scout, received his Arrow of Light award, obtained and earned many Merit Badges during those years. He also completed and received his Ad Altare Dei Religious medal.
Dwayne enjoyed being with family and friends. He loved dancing, drawing, listening to music, writing and making his own music and songs, poem writing and recently started doing Disc Jockeying. He enjoyed sports, played and was involved in baseball over many years, played and enjoyed high school football and loved sport fishing with his family. He enjoyed riding around the beach in his car, hanging out with friends and being with his 21/2 years old chihuahua "Sasha".
His survivors include his brother Joshua M. Barbosa of New Bedford, his godparents by Baptism: Joanne Costa and Michael Barbosa both of New Bedford and Confirmation godfather Robert Lazaro also from New Bedford.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 5 to 8 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Road, East Freetown. Cremation will follow.
