NEW BEDFORD: On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, Evelina Cardoso went to be with the Lord at the age of 88 surrounded by loved ones.
Evelina was born on February 3, 1934 in Lomba do Pomar, Povoação, São Miguel. She immigrated into the United States in 1966 , and lived in New Bedford until her passing.
Evelina was a deeply religious woman who was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She always enjoyed being in the company of her family who loved her greatly. She was known for her sweet smile, her poetry, welcoming and loveable greetings, makings others laugh. She enjoyed decorating her home with flowers and religious images, cooking, sewing her own clothes, and making figurines for her nativity scenes.
She is survived by her nieces, Clotilde Borba and her husband, Paul Borba, niece Irene Amaral, her nephew, Adelino Borges and partner Filomena Carvalho, niece Anna-Lee Gray and her husband Steve Gray, her late nephew, João Manuel Amaral and his wife, Christine Amaral, great nephew, Adam Borba, and his wife Jenna Borba, great nieces Rachel Borba and partner Ames Colt, Sylvia Alves, Sophia Amaral, and great-great nephews, Liam and Landon Borba. She was the sister of the late Maria Lurdes Borges, Clotilde Amaral, Teresinha Cardoso, Joao Luis Cardoso.
The family would also like to extend their gratitude for the great care provided for her from CareOne in New Bedford and from her team at Continuum Hospice and Palliative Care of Fall River who were all so kind and helpful during this difficult time.
Her visiting hours will be Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 3 to 6 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass on Monday at 9:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Interment at ST. John Cemetery.
