NEW BEDFORD: Filomena Ibéria (Aguiar) Resendes, 88, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, October 01, 2021 at the Oaks Nursing Center, New Bedford, after a period of declining health. Se was the wife of the late Francisco A. Resendes.
She was born in Feteira Pequena, Nordeste, St. Miguel, Azores to the late António Aguiar and Maria Resendes Aguiar. A parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church, and formerly employed at Calvin Clothing Company, New Bedford, until her retirement.
She leaves behind 5 children: Francisco M. Resendes and wife Fernanda Resendes of Acushnet; António Dinis Resendes and wife Celestina Resendes of Acushnet; Ibéria “Betty” Fagundes and husband Luis Fagundes of Freetown; Teresa Resendes Tavares and husband Taylor Baldwin of Marion; and José Octávio Resendes of New Bedford. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Ryan Resendes, Nicole Souza, Philip Fagundes,
Kaitlyn Fagundes, Meagan Resendes, Eric Tavares, Alex Tavares, and one great-grandchild, Molly Resendes and also various nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Maria Resendes Aguiar, José Aguiar, António Aguiar and Manuel Aguiar, all deceased.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday morning, October 06, from 9:00AM to 11:30AM at Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureaux Funeral Home, 512 North Front Street, New Bedford, followed by mass, at 12:00 PM, at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Internment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
