NEW BEDFORD; Filomena (de Melo) de Medeiros, 61, of New Bedford, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. She was the wife of Joao Medeiros.
She was born in Fenais D'Ajuda, St. Miguel, Azores to the late Manuel de Melo and Maria do Carmo (de Melo) de Melo. A communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Filomena was loved by many people, and she was a strong-willed woman, who was passionate for life and much love for her family specially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of New Bedford, a daughter Chantel Cabral and her husband Eurico of New Bedford, a sister Nisia Afonso Couto of St. Miguel, three grandchildren Elijah, Ariana, Keira, and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Sunday afternoon, February 02, 2020, from 3 to 6 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Monday, at 8 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the family.
