Joao C. Fonseca

NEW BEDFORD: Joao C. Fonseca, 75, of New Bedford, passed away January 3, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in Faja de Cima, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of Joao Fonseca and survived by Maria Fonseca. He was the beloved husband of Teolinda, they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Joao was a self-employed electrician for many years. He was also employed with Dave Goncalves Electric until his retirement. He was a former President and member of Senhor da Pedra Society for many years. Joao was a hardworking man and loved spending time with this family and his dogs Sonny and Chloe. He also enjoyed watching his favorite soccer team Benfica.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Teolinda, his son, Richard, his beloved grandsons Jared and Justin, his mother Maria and his brothers, Floriberto and wife Seraphina, Eduardo and wife Ana and Antonio and several nieces and nephews.

His visiting hours will be Sunday, January 09, 2022, from 3 to 6 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Monday, at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Interment at Acushnet Cemetery, Main Street, Acushnet.
