ACUSHNET: Joseph Pereira age 75 of Acushnet, Massachusetts passed away on January 31, 2022, at home surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer.
Joseph was born in Ponta Delgada, Flores Acores on January 11, 1947, to the late Jose Pereira and Maria (Mendonca) Pereira.
After coming to the United States, he grew up in New Bedford then move to Rochester with his wife Bertha Pereira where they lived and raised their two boys JJ and Darren. Joe ran his landscaping business Pereira’s Landscaping company for 29 years servicing homes and businesses throughout New England. In 1998 he moved to Acushnet to the now Silver Brook Farm of Acushnet where he lived and worked the family‘s farm. He loved working with the farm animals and attending to his extensive gardens. Joe loved his wife’s cooking and spent hours at the kitchen table with family and friends reminiscing and telling stories.
He is survived by his wife Bertha Pereira, sons JJ his partner David, Darren Pereira and his wife Erin Cyr Pereira. Grandchildren Darien Pereira, Kaylie Pereira, Tyler Pereira, haven Pereira, Harlow Pereira. Jeremy and Jayden. Nephews Gilly Mello, Stephen Mello, Christopher Mello, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maria Mello.
His visiting hours will be Thursday, February 03, 2022, from 5 to 8 PM, at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 North Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Friday at 10 AM, at St. Francis Xavier Church, Main Street, Acushnet. Interment at Acushnet Cemetery.
