Obituary
NEW BEDFORD: Manuel C. Monte, 67 years old, of New Bedford, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his children.
He was born in Porto Formoso, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Mariano Monte and Belmira (Correia) Monte. He moved to the United States in 1985. He was formerly employed in construction as a truck driver.
He was the devoted father of Zachary Monte and his wife Tamara, and his daughter Jessica Monte. He is survived by his sisters Natalia Pacheco (Mariano) and Rosa Mauricio (Jose). He was also the brother of the late Jeremias Monte. He leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Manuel was a hard worker and took great pride in what he did for a living. He was an avid soccer player, former soccer coach, and a lifelong Sporting fan.
His visiting hours will Thursday morning, December 30, 2021, from 9 to 11 AM at the Cabral Baylies Square Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford, followed by his funeral mass at 11:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. His cremation will follow.
