NEW BEDFORD: Yesterday October 7, 2019 at 9:10 AM my dad, Manuel Pereria embarked on his final voyage and earned his wings at 88. He was a husband, father, brother, an uncle; he worked as a bill collector for Bensaude in Faial, Azores to a machine operator in New Bedford. On October 3, 1970 emigrated with my mom, Ligia and myself to the United States to explore a new life, yesterday 4 days after the 49th anniversary of such trip he has traveled to his final destination.

Mr. Pereira was formerly employed at the former Revere Sink as a Machine Operator until his retirement, also he was a member of the Irmandade Espirito Santo of Pico and Horseneck Holy Ghost.
Survivors include his wife Ligia (Dias) Pereira of New Bedford, a son Armando M. Pereira and his wife Elizabeth of Wareham, MA, two brothers Antonio Pereira of New Bedford, Jose Pereira of Faial, Azores, two sisters Manuela and Fernanda both of Portugal. Also survived by a granddaughter Victoria Ana Dumas, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Anthony of Padua, 1359 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
