NEW BEDFORD; Nellie Baker ( Mederios) 82, of New Bedford  passed away  peacefully on  Tuesday April 14th 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital, she was the wife of the late Richard F. Baker.

Born in Fairhaven Mass, daughter of the late Antone and Virginia ( Ponte) Medeiros.

She resided in New Bedford for most of her life. Nellie was employed as a seamstress until her retirement.

In her leisure time she was an avid reader, enjoyed watching old movies , loved flowers and her coffee. But it was all the great conversations with her children that always brought the laughter and smiles in her life. Those great moments will forever be greatly missed .

Nellie was a very loving and devoted wife, and mother who dedicated her life to her family. She was married to Richard for 26 years, for 16 years of their marriage she elected to care for her husband at home, after a tragic car  accident that left him a quadriplegic while  trying to raise 6 children.

As a Cancer Survivor, She is the mother of six  loving children.

Debbie Brum and her significant other John Frias, Richard Baker and his wife Josephine Baker, Jeffery Baker and his significate other Jana Mc Mullen , Linda Luiz  and her significate other Dale Mendes, Karen Baker and her husband Richard  Desnoyers  , Russell  Baker and his significant other Debra Miller .

Her 16 Grandchildren : John, Melissa , Bonnie , Joshua, Tiffany, Dennis, Bobby ,Mandy  ,Ricky Jr.

Chelcie,  Jordin  ,Aymee,  Meaghan, Erin  ,Lindsey,  Jamie.

Her  19 Great Grandchildren . Montao  , Kellen, Navin, Brecken, Ayden, Maisen, Ava, Aiden, Audryona,

Emiliana,  Brooklynn , Broden,  Sofia, Ricky the 3rd, Michael, Alex , Andrew, Noah , Colton.

The family would like to thank Alden Court Nursing Rehabilitation Center and St Lukes Hospital for their Outstanding care and comfort they provided to our Mother .

Donations can be made to COPD Foundation in care of Nellie Baker .

Due to the current restrictions, her visitation and burial will be private for immediate family. A public Memorial Mass will be held at the later date.

Arrangements are by the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 512 No. Front Street, New Bedford.
