NEW BEDFORD: Noella Marie (Wilbur) Joao, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2021. A lifelong resident of New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Glenwood and Marie (McMullen) Wilbur.
She was a graduate of Holy Family High School and worked for many years as a secretary for Dr. Dias, Dr. Higgins, and Metro Medic before her retirement. She is survived by her brother Michael Wilbur and his wife Patricia of Acushnet, two sisters Rosemarie Moniz and Ann Viveiros and her husband Mario all of New Bedford.
She was the loving and devoted "Auntie LaLa" to Joey, Timmy, Samantha, Chris, Nicole and Kathy, and several great nieces and nephews. She was well known to listeners on WBSM for years for her almost daily Birthday and Anniversary wishes to countless family members and friends. She avidly watched all Boston professional sports teams' games on TV, and was especially devoted to the Patriots and Tom Brady. Her idea of "heaven on earth" was sunbathing on East Beach every summer.
She was the beloved Godmother to Lynn Ellen Garnett, of North Dartmouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her in name to the Alzheimer's Association. Cremation will follow.
