NEW BEDFORD; Sara Belmira (Machado) Correia, 93, passed away on August 18, 2020, at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Manuel Pacheco Correia.
She was born in Feteira Pequena, Nordeste, St. Miguel, Azores to the late Julio J. Carreiro and Rosalina J. (Machado) Carreiro. A communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, and a member of the Portuguese Prayer Group of her Parish. Formerly employed as a Stitcher at the former States Nightwear Textile, until her retirement.
She is survived by four sons; Manuel F. Correia and his wife Gloria of New Bedford, Antonio L. Correia and his wife Lucia, Rui A. Correia and his wife Sally both of Acushnet, Jose O. Correia and his wife Lucy of Dartmouth; four daughters Josefina Soares and her husband Joao, Sara Vizinho and her husband Saul, Maria dos Anjos Barboza and her husband Ernesto, Olimpia Amaral and her husband Angelo all of New Bedford; two brothers Tobias Machado, Laudalino Correia both of New Bedford; a sister Maria L. Macedo of Canada. Also survived by twenty one grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Saturday morning, August 22, 2020 from 7 to 8:30 AM, due to the restrictions of Covid-19 the amount of people is limited to ten (10) at each time, and every one have to wear a face-mask. A funeral mass will be held at 9 AM on the same day at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. All are welcome to attend, however due to current restrictions, only 100 people are allowed in the church at one time. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
