NEW BEDFORD: Shirley (Britton) Escorsio, 92, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital, unexpectedly after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Angelo M. Escorsio.
She was a lifelong resident of the greater New Bedford area. Daughter of the late Albert Britton and Blanche (Blair) Britton, formerly employed at the formerly Cameo Curtains Mfg. as a folder until her retirement.
She is survived by two sons Dennis Silvares, David Silvares, both of New Bedford, a daughter Deborah Silvares of New Bedford, a sister Grace Rose of Assonet, three grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two of whom were her caretakers Tiffany Silvares and her wife Kayla, eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Pamela Silvares.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping and attending The Zeiterion Theatre every Christmas season to watch A Christmas Carol.
A wake will be held on Friday, February 5th from 9 to 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart # 2 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Zeiterion in memory of Shirley (Britton) Escorsio.
